My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade

A snow filled Monday morning. If you're in the Madison area and reading this blog - three cheers to you for getting to your computer safely today. It was a mess yesterday and today. Yikes. I guess I'm also giving myself three cheers for getting in and writing for you guys too. Nothing like a good old pat on the back. Anyhow, looking into the crystal ball that is my Suggestion Box, follower Ashley mentioned that she's been listening to some My Chemical Romance as of late. Specifically this album. I reviewed their big time debut when I first started writing. I enjoy the band as a whole. I think their sound is pretty solid, and they are lyrically better than most other punk bands out there. 'Helena' is one of my favorite punk tracks of all time. Ashley stated this isn't completely out of her comfort zone, but it's also not in her sweet spot either. Well for me, nothing is generally out of my comfort zone anymore - solely because of the blog. This certainly isn't my 'go to' genre though either. I've listened to this album a few times before - just because it was the follow up to 'Three Cheers'. I can tell you this dropped in 2006 and has charted platinum. 1x only, which I guess isn't too much of a shocker. They don't seem to have the huge following other bands do. I'd love to see them live someday, seems they'd put on a cool show. I like this. It gets very mixed reviews on different sites, so I don't expect everyone to enjoy it. But give it a shot, you may be surprised.

  1. Yea, like I told you I listened to a few more of the tracks to get a feel of what you might put down and this is about what I expected. The top 3 you have listed is what I had as well. They are a little lyrically stronger though. Eh, only time will tell.

  2. I like them...I like their sound. I hope they catch on better. They have more musical value than other punk acts out there today.
