Michael Buble - It's Time

'Mood' day can be so melancholy. Today, I'm not really in that kind of mode, but that doesn't mean I can't appreciate the music. Michael Buble played a show at the Pabst I think WAY back in the day - had no clue who the guy was. Seemed like kind of a d-bag when you heard him and looked at his face. But really, he has a great voice and does some nice stuff. I wouldn't call any of his work 5 star, but it's all pretty solid. Perfect records if you are in that slow, or even romantic type mood. Most of my 'mood' reviews don't reflect any romance, but Buble can do that for you. He is also kind of a throwback in the sense of his background arrangements. He's very big band-ish with a TON of horns and orchestral interludes. Many of the tracks on this particular record are covers, but he does a nice job of mixing them into something a little more flavorful and current. I can see why rat pack followers wouldn't like this - because it kind of seems like a rip off of those classics. I don't particularly agree - but I'm also not a huge Sinatra guy. I also feel like Buble is drawing a very thin line between real, good music or a lounge act. I mean - you have a guy like Richard Cheese who has an almost identical voice, making big money doing hilarious covers of good songs. Now, with the exception of the hilarious part - Buble is doing just about the same thing. I think he is still on the right side of that line, so I'd encourage you to check this out sometime. It's got at least a few tracks you'll enjoy.

  1. What a wonderful concert. My husband and I had got tickets from Ticketwood.com at discounted prices and a big "Thank You" to Ticketwood for Michael Buble Tickets .We drove from the Lewiston-Clarkston area to attend Buble concert. It was our first, and won't be the last. Being a Music teacher, I've followed Michael's career since the first interivew I saw years ago. There is absolutely no one who can interpret a song like Michael with such emotion and tenderness as on "Best of Me", "Home," or "Song for You.". Great Show!
