B Side Fans - How Am I Doing?

Happy Thurssday Blog Fans!

I decided I'm going to take a day off today, and just have a small post about the blog. A lot of you are coming back on a semi regular basis - and to all those people I really appreciate your time! I'm wondering what I can do to make your visits better? I'd love to see more comments on reviews, but I understand that can be time consuming and signing in can be a bear for some people. How can I make your experience better?

I've got a couple ideas in the hopper...I want to make the 'Song Of The Moment Archive' not on this page, but in a separate link that you can click on if you want to check out single songs. I was also thinking about having a way everyone who visits could vote for songs and have a B Side Top 100 list or something like that. I know that many of you want interaction, but don't necessarily want your name and ID attached to what you put on the blog. I could also make the ability to have anonymous comments - but I've always enjoyed responding to people. If that's stopping some folks from sharing, I'll happily do that. I really have to thank JenInTosa for helping me out with tossing some Country albums my way, and I'd love to hear more! From everybody! Send me your favorite artist, or record and I'll get it on the blog!

Let me know if there is anything I can do to make your viewing better and I promise, I'll do my best to get it done.

Thank you very much for your support!

The B Side

  1. What a great post to get some reader interaction! (P.S. You're welcome! I have more too, don't you worry!)
First of all, the best way to get responses (I believe) is to ask specific, open-ended questions! If there is something to respond to people are more likely to write their opinion and, hopefully, that will spark even more discussion!
Another way might be to put your least favorite tracks as well as your favorite. Maybe that was someone's favorite and they'll have something to say about that! :)
More voting is a quick way for people to respond, so I like that there will be more of that!
And I was thinking... music is SO affected by weather to me! Maybe doing some great springtime albums to get us in the mood for this 70 degree weather!

Question for you Mr. B-Side: How do you get all this music, do you own all of the albums you talk about?

  2. YAY Responses!!

I really look forward to more input from you going forward. I was very excited whenever it was country day again because I love trying new music. Even if I only fall in love with one of the 5 albums or so you gave me, that's one more album I can throw on during the day.

    To summarize:
    1) More posts with open ended questions (we'll see how this one does too)
    2) Poll ideas are good options
    3) Try some least favorite stuff
    4) Weather related posts

I love those ideas. Hopefully I get a bunch of opinions from this post, and more than anything that will inspire to post more stuff like this. Just idea generating or discussion generating posts. That classic rock one did really well, even if it was just people talking to me in person.

About the tuneage. Most of the stuff I've reviewed so far I own. I have about 10,000 songs on iTunes so I just look for my favorite albums and review those. Your recommendations and the new stuff that comes out, I try to use sites that allow you to listen for free (Grooveshark, Pandora, Myspace, even a little iLike) If for some reason I really just can't find it, I'll download it. I don't do illegal anymore, so everything is through iTunes.

  3. I enjoy reading the postings, and what you have to say about various music, but I have enough going on with this that and the other thing and will probably only "get involved" if it's something I feel very strongly about.

  4. Thanks for the comment Mith.

I appreciate you taking the time to read, as I know you have a hectic schedule. And no worries about not leaving a ton of remarks, I think that's the boat most people are in. Knowing that I even have a good numbers of readers makes me happy to keep this thing going.

  5. you know..i always seem to forget about this page. and for that..i'm sorry. : ) but i do enjoy reading what you have to say, especially since i'm unfamiliar with some of the things you post. keep up the good work!

  6. I try to put as much "oddball" stuff on here as I can. I've made it no secret that I love new music and encourage people to listen to new things.

Some feedback I'd love to get is what people think after they try some new stuff. I'd like to work on a like/dislike feature that people can use on the blog. Coming soon!
