Deep Purple - Machine Head
When you think of iconic classic '70s rock, very rarely does the name Deep Purple enter the conversation. Perhaps it should B Side fans, perhaps it should. These guys made a TON of good music in that decade. They put out stuff all the way into the 2000's - most of which I never heard. It amazes me when people hear a Deep Purple track, sing along to it - talk about how great this song is...but have no clue who it is. Doesn't that drive people crazy? If you're listening to a song and you love it, don't you have a need to figure out who it is and pick up more by that artist? Maybe that's just me being a music nut. Anyhow - this record and most stuff by '70s DP is really good stuff. I'm sure you've heard a couple tracks from this record already - so check them out again. If you think you haven't heard DP anytime in your life, sweet lord pick this up. There no is question you'll end up celebrating most of their catalog. Probably my favorite DP track isn't on this record, so I'll have to get to another review for them sometime soon. This was their highest selling album, so it's a good place to start if you're a Purple newbie. Toss this on and enjoy an excellent start to your weekend!
